I'm completely honest when it counts, and full of shit when it doesn't

So, I'm re-starting this blog, and I'm VERY concerned with MY personal safely.   So when I say I'm traveling, it' s very likely I'm already home.  BUT, I will ALWAYS give you good safely and fun advice on my travels.   It they may be delayed, as I don't want people to know I'm away.  Hazards of being single....

Mary the Moderator Moderates

As you all know, I only get my power from moderating College Bowl......  Or what TF ever..  I am a strong individual that LOVES College Bowl, and it really is one of my favorite days of the year. College Bowl was amazing this year. I'm always astounded by how much the students know, how hard they work, and the fun that is had.  People assume it is a boring competition.  But it's not boring at all.  It's a ton of fun and I hope I get asked back to be the moderator.

Mary the Moderator goes to the Big City

There I was, near NYC for work. So I did my work, and because I was flying out extremely early in the morning, I contacted my friend that lives in NY to see if we could meet up for dinner.  And we could...Yay!!   I walked from my hotel at LGA airport to Jackson Heights Queens.  For those single ladies (and men that should also be concerned), it was no issue - YOU CAN WALK FROM NEAR LGA to Jackson Height and back without issue, even at night (or at least I did)   AND THE FOOD.... I really recommend that people take a journey through Jackson Heights, because it is one of the most (if not THE MOST) diverse neighborhoods in all of the US.   You can go from Columbia to Peru to Nepal in a few blocks.  Get out of Manhattan and come to Queens! ...
I'm certain that this will only be read by my 17 year old cat...oh wait...she can't read.  I'm starting this blog (and hopefully linking it to my previous blog when I lived in Eastern Europe (Belgrade)), so it's somewhat interesting.  I have had a great time moderating the College Bowl Competition at the Institute of Food Technologists annual meeting over the past 9 (!!!! - How am I that old) years, and I have a very interesting life, as you may have gathered from my color commentary.... This blog is really meant for the single (Scientist - because you are my peers) woman that wants to explore the world, but maybe isn't' sure that they can.  Let me tell you, I'm the cheapest cheapskate you will encounter, even with my (current and hopefully I don't get fired) corporate job.  And I'm very concerned with personal safety. This is a blog for women (scientist or not) that want to get off the beaten path, love to be out of their comfort zone, and ne...
